Mantan Web reported the first weekend showings for the anime film Gintama: THE FINAL won first place in the rankings. Gintama: THE FINAL slightly, and finally, beat Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which had the top position for the 13 weeks.
The official website for Gintama: The Final revealed theaters will start screening the film with audio commentary by the six of the cast on January 22. Viewers can listen to the second audio channel with commentary by downloading it from the "Hello! Movie!" app and listening on their smartphones with headphones.
The online dTV service is streaming a new trailer for Gintama The Semi-Final which previews the special's second part debuting on January 20.
The production staff of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime showed off countdown illustrations by Slime spinoff manga artists on Twitter @ten_sura_anime for the premiere of the anime’s second season. The three-day countdown started with an illustration from Shizuku Akechi, mangaka of Tensei Shite mo Shachiku Datta Ken (That Time I Got Reincarnated (Again!) as a Workaholic Slime). The next illustration was by Tae Tono, the mangaka of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Trinity in Tempest, and the last illustration was by Chacha of the four-panel manga, Tenchura! Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken.
BANDAI SPIRITS will release a soft replica toy of Rimuru Tempest that can talk with more than 100 voices in two modes when pressed. Pre-orders are accepted on Tamashii Web Shop and is scheduled to ship in June 2021.

On January 16, Kappa Sushi stores around Japan started a special collaboration with the second season of The Quintessential Quintuplets. For every 2,000 yen spent at any Kappa Sushi restaurant, visitors get one random clear file of one of the girls donning the Kappa Sushi uniform. A retweet campaign also started that by following the Twitter account @kappasushi_jp and retweeting the campaign Tweet, you could win a special clear file featuring all the girls.
The official Laid-Back Camp website announced its food truck's opening will be postponed indefinitely due to Tokyo’s State of Emergency. There will be an announcement on the anime's website, Twitter account @yurucamp_anime, and the promotional partner, FATMAN’s, Twitter account @channel_fatman when a new date is decided.
To celebrate the third volume of Kiyomasa Masanoshita’s Kawasemi-san no Tsurigohan ("Ms. Kawasemi's Fishing Meals"), Futabasha published a pair of short preview videos in both "sexy" and "horror" versions.

The Pokémon franchise’s official YouTube channel is streaming a video to commemorate the series' 25th anniversary. The series' official website revealed they are teaming up with Universal Music Group and musical artists, including Katy Perry, to create the global music project P25 Music. Pokémon Company will also release 25th anniversary-themed collections of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and is also teasing new commemorative products will go on sale at the Pokémon Center, starting with a 25th anniversary-themed skateboard by Bear Walker.
Netflix unveiled a new trailer, in both Japanese and English, for the anime series of Tsuina Miura and Takahiro Ōba's manga High-Rise Invasion (Tenkū Shinpan), as well as more cast and staff members, theme song artists, and the anime's debut in Japan on February 25.
Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine announced the television anime of Hiro Mashima's Edens Zero manga will premiere on April 10. Kodansha also unveiled a new promotional video.
Watatsuki Miyazawa announced, on Twitter @miyazawatatuki, a new publishing company named WiZH. There are plans to publish new works with Mamisu Arizawa and Kanna Wakatsuki's Inukami! novel series, as well as plans to make original works and novelizations of anime in the future.
The official Macross portal site announced the "SANKYO presents Macross F Galaxy Live 2021 ~Madamada Futari wa Kore kara! Watashitachi no Uta wo Kike!" concerts originally scheduled for February 5-6 are delayed due to the state of emergency.
The Ghibli Museum, which has been closed since November for maintenance, announced it delayed its re-opening from January 15 to January 22 due to the state of emergency in Tokyo.

Funimation, with Aniplex of America, revealed the first official English dub trailer for the Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, which is coming to U.S. theaters later this year.
Netflix announced it will stream the Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai (Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan) anime in 190 countries starting February 18.
Bushiroad announced the English-dubbed version of D4DJ First Mix will debut on the D4DJ Global YouTube Channel on January 17 with the first three episodes will launch simultaneously, and the Spanish-dubbed version will debut in early February.
A new website opened to announce a new original anime called Odd Taxi that will premiere in April. The website also revealed the anime's promotional video, teaser visual, cast, staff, and manga adaptation by Kadzuya Konomoto.
Wit Studio announced it is producing an anime called Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song-. Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara created the story and wrote the scripts. The staff posted a teaser promotional video, visual, and the tagline: "The story of how I, Vivy, will destroy my AI self …"
Philippine television network GMA-7 is streaming a teaser trailer for the live-action Voltes V Legacy. The video teases the titular mecha's "volt-in" sequence and the "Tenkūken" attack.
The official website for the anime film Sidonia no Kishi: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi (Knights of Sidonia: The Star Where Love is Spun), is streaming the first full trailer which reveals four new cast members and the opening date on May 14.
Shueisha was recently trending on Twitter after numerous copyright strikes appeared from them, for which I already made a separate Otaku News Opinions. (You know, check it out or whatever.) Well in an update, Shueisha finally told Anime News Network, and issued a statement on its MANGA Plus website, that the copyright takedowns were not from Shueisha, but from a third party using the company's name without permission. Shueisha is also currently investigating with social media platforms to decide on a course of action.
That is unfortunately not Shueisha’s only problems to deal with. An editor's smartphone screen was shown in a recent livestream to commemorate One Piece's 1000th chapter, but a link to an adult manga pirate site could briefly be seen in the search history. Shueisha issued a statement to the news outlet J-Cast after the controversy that basically claimed the link that was accidentally clicked, but they do apologize.
Voting for Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards is now open. Everyone can vote each day until January 22, and the winners will be revealed on February 19. Also, if you sign in there is a digital gift after voting ends.

Seven Seas Entertainment announced it licensed the Sarazanmai Anthology manga collection featuring more than a dozen short stories by various creators based on Kunihiko Ikuhara's Sarazanmai television anime series. The manga will be released in a large-trim single volume in both print and digital formats in June.
yama posted a three-minute music video for "Mahi" (Paralysis), which is the OP theme for the 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team anime, on his official YouTube channel. The digital release of the song also started, and its CD single is set to release on February 10.

Eiko Kadono's fantasy novel series Majo no Takkyūbin (Kiki's Delivery Service) is getting a new stage musical adaptation that will run in March and April. The play will run in Tokyo on March 25-28, in Nagoya on April 10-11, and in Osaka on April 15-18.

Kodansha's Morning magazine revealed a spinoff of Nobuyuki Fukumoto's Kaiji manga will debut in the magazine's next issue on January 21 and will center on Seiya Ichijō. Tensei Hagiwara is writing the story with Tomoki Miyoshi and Yoshiaki Seto drawing it. The magazine teased an incomplete version of the title as "OOOO Roku Ichijō."
Bandai Namco Pictures is producing a new original project titled Shinsengumi Chūbō Roku (Shinsengumi Kitchen Diary), with a planned web novel, manga, and anime. Kyoko Kumagai will launch the manga in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine on February 26.

Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine announced Tsuyoshi Yasuda's DAYS soccer manga will end in the next issue on January 20.
Kodansha listed a book by Jun Maeda titled Neko Kari Zoku no Naga (The Cat-Hunting Tribe's Chief) to release on March 23 but then Kodansha removed it from its list of upcoming books.
